Travel guide & FAQ
Know before you go.
Everything travellers ask us about visiting Tunisia — the best time to come, getting around, what to see, and how our private tours work.
When is the best time to visit Tunisia?
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal — warm, sunny days that are comfortable for sightseeing at Carthage, Kairouan and El Jem. Summer (June–August) is hot inland but great for the coast; winter is mild and quiet.
What are the best day trips from Tunis?
The three classics are: Carthage & Sidi Bou Saïd (ancient Roman ruins plus the blue-and-white cliff village), Kairouan & El Jem (two UNESCO World Heritage sites — the Great Mosque and the largest Roman amphitheatre in Africa), and a full day combining Tunis medina, Carthage and Sidi Bou Saïd.
How many days do you need in Tunisia?
Four to seven days covers the highlights: 2–3 days around Tunis (Carthage, Sidi Bou Saïd, the medina, the Bardo Museum), a day trip to Kairouan and El Jem, and time for the coast or the Sahara if you go south.
Is Tunisia safe for tourists?
The main tourist areas — Tunis, Carthage, Sidi Bou Saïd, Hammamet, Sousse, Djerba, Kairouan and El Jem — are generally safe and welcoming. Take the same common-sense precautions you would anywhere, and check your government's current travel advice before you go.
Do I need a visa to visit Tunisia?
Many nationalities (including most EU countries, the UK, US and Canada) can enter Tunisia visa-free for stays up to 90 days. Rules change, so always confirm requirements for your passport before travelling.
What currency is used, and how do I pay for tours?
The local currency is the Tunisian Dinar (TND), and cash is widely used. Our tours are priced in euros; you reserve online and pay your driver or guide in cash on arrival — no online card payment is required. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup.
What should I wear, especially at mosques?
Light, breathable clothing and comfortable walking shoes for uneven archaeological sites and cobbled village lanes. At religious sites such as the Great Mosque of Kairouan, modest dress is required — shoulders and knees covered; wraps are usually available at the entrance.
Do your tours include hotel pickup?
Yes. Every excursion is private or small-group in an air-conditioned vehicle with hotel pickup and drop-off, a licensed local guide, and bottled water — with no hidden fees.
What languages are the tours available in?
Our guides speak English, French and Arabic, and the website is available in English and French. Other languages can often be arranged on request.
Can I customise a private tour or combine several places?
Yes — tell us what you'd like to see and we'll build a private itinerary combining excursions, transfers and stops. Use the Plan Your Trip page or message us on WhatsApp.
